Program Overview

France remains one of the most visited countries in the world! Study Abroad in France provides a unique opportunity to study history and visit a number of fascinating monuments and museums in Paris, Carcassonne, Nice, Monaco, and Menton. 

Credit Hours and Courses
Two-week abroad program, full term courses, and 3-6 credit hours. 

HIST 4057: Modern Europe 1789 to 1919 (3 credits)—Dr. Dzavid Dzanic
Prerequisite: This course does not have any prerequisites.
Description: The French Revolution and Napoleon, 19th century liberalism and nationalism, the 1848 revolutions, the unification of Italy and Germany, the Russian revolutions, and World War I.

HIST 4910: History Abroad (3 - 6 credits)—Dr. Dzavid Dzanic

Prerequisite: Junior standing or permission of instructor
Description: This course involves temporary residence outside the US to study an historical topic in its geographic context. Students will complete a research using primary and secondary sources or historiographic paper engaging two or more historians on the same topic.

HIST 4900: Topics in History (3 credits)—Dr. Dzavid Dzanic

Prerequisite: Junior standing or permission of instructor 
Description: This seminar addresses a specific historical topic, determined by the instructor, involving advanced readings, discussion, and research. The student will complete a thesis, using primary and secondary sources or historiographic paper, engaging two or more historians on the topic. This course may be taken twice for credit for a maximum of six (6) hours.


HIST 5023: Directed Independent Readings (3 credits)—Dr. Dzavid Dzanic
Description: This course is designated to treat a variety of specialized topics. The professor and student can collaborate on specificity based on professor’s area of expertise and student’s needs. May be taken twice for a total of 6 semester hours.

HIST 5999: Study Abroad (3 - 6 credits)—Dr. Dzavid Dzanic
Description: This course is for graduate students to have the opportunity to participate on Study Abroad Programs.


ENG 340H: African Writers (3 credits)—Dr. Christopher Konkobo (Not for Summer 2024)
Prerequisite: ENGL 2330
Description: African writers in English since the colonial experience. Illuminates the character, literary and thematic concerns of the works studied. Students will read from West, East, and South African authors.

Financial Aid 

Your current scholarships and financial aid may apply toward the cost of the program. If you plan on using financial aid you need to call the Office of Student Financial Aid at (931) 221-7907 to schedule an appointment with a study abroad counselor.  Application Fee: $280

This non-refundable application fee will be charged to the student's account once the student authorizes the Office of Study Abroad and International Exchange during the application process.

Payments will be billed to the student account and must be paid through the Student Account.

Tuition
3 credit hours: $876 (undergraduate)
6 credit hours: $1752 (undergraduate)
Tuition is due prior to departure and will be billed to the student's account after registration.
