Program Overview

Through the APSU - National Changhua University of Education (NCUE) exchange program, you will have the opportunity to study in Taiwan for a semester or academic year. You may take a variety of courses related to your area of study as well as Chinese (Mandarin) language building. The program will provide you a diversified and unique learning experience, expose you to a different culture, and widen your world view.

General Steps

  • Students must FIRST meet with us. Please call us at 931-221-6851 to make an appointment.
  • Students must also meet with the APSU Exchange Program Faculty Coordinator (contact below).
  • Complete the application process at the host institution and/or third party provider.
  • Complete the APSU study abroad online application.
  • Register for classes at APSU and at the host institution.
  • Pay tuition ONLY here at APSU.
  • Pay for housing and meals at the host institution
  • Do your semester abroad! 

Lodging and Meals

You are guaranteed housing in a student dormitory with occupancy for four. You will not have a meal plan, but the campus cafeteria and restaurants adjacent to the campus are available.

Credit-Hours and Courses

12-18 credit-hours per semester. A number of courses taught in English are available:

Biotechnology - Independent Study

Business - Business English, Marketing, Consumer Behavior, Strategic Management, Business Presentation Skills, Knowledge and Intellectual Capital, Special Topics: Computational Intelligence, Special Topics: Investment Decisions, Independent Study

Chemistry - Organic Synthesis, Undergraduate Research, Organic Mechanisms, Natural Products

Geography - Discovering Taiwan: Cultures and Landscapes, Discovering Changhua: Cultures and Landscapes

Mathematics - Independent Study

Mechatronics Engineering - Fundamentals of Optomechatronics System, Fundamentals of Physics, Fundamentals of Semiconductor Physics and Devices, Electrodynamics, Opto-mechatronics System, Opto-mechatronics System Design, Microsensors Engineering, Independent Study

Physics - Thermoelectric Materials, Optoelectronic Semiconductor

Political Science - Chinese Foreign Policy

Special Education - Collaboration & Consultation for Students with Special Needs, Inclusive Schooling, Issues & practices in Special Education, Educating Students with Multiple Disabilities, Instruction of Students with Severe Disabilities, Independent Study

Chinese Language - Basic Chinese, Elementary Chinese, Intermediate Chinese, Advanced Chinese

Financial Aid 

Your current scholarships and financial aid may apply toward the cost of the program. If you plan on using financial aid you need to call the Office of Student Financial Aid at (931) 221-7907 to schedule an appointment with a study abroad counselor.
